Seeing a Show at Hendricks Live!
I have been very fortunate to have seen a multitude of different shows at Hendricks Live! I have been a couple of times with family for plays put on by Hendricks Civic Theatre, as well as concerts with friends, but no matter the show, I have always been impressed with my experience.
The Hendricks Live! theater is very intimate with no bad view of the stage, plus parking in the nearby garage or on the streets around Hendricks Live! is free. Before the show and during intermissions, make sure to get some snacks and refreshments at the concessions area in the lobby, and be sure to check out the art that is featured in the lobby.
Dinner Before or After
Make it dinner and a show! Whether it is kicking off the night out on the town or capping off the evening from a great show at Hendricks Live!, make dinner plans at some of these great Plainfield restaurants.
In downtown Plainfield, some of the top options include, The Prewitt Restaurant + Lounge, Tlahcos Mexican Cuisine, Sal's Famous Pizzeria or Greek's Pizzeria. At The Shops at Perry Crossing, a nearby shopping and entertainment district, you can visit: Bru Burger Bar, Stone Creek Dining Company or Shin Dig.
Brunch Options Before a Matinee
With those early matinee performances at Hendricks Live! it is probably best to grab some food before the show. Great fast and easy options right around the theater include grabbing a coffee and baked good from The Green Room Cafe located right inside Hendricks Live!
For more of a sit-down experience enjoy a homestyle meal at Flap Jack's Pancake House or of course eating at the iconic Oasis Diner, a retro diner that serves up the tradition Americana dishes.
Other Things to Do
Your trip doesn't have to begin and end with dinner and a show. Plainfield has plenty of other things to see and do to extend your stay depending on the time of year. Families can dedicate a second day to explore Splash Island Family Waterpark during the summer months.
Indoor options for active families include Urban Air Adventure Park and Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park or you could enjoy a DIY experience at uPaint Pottery Studio. Couples could explore the vastness of Gilley's Antique & Decorator Mall with hundreds of booths featuring antiques, crafts, home decor and other wares, or you could explore another popular shopping destination, The Shops at Perry Crossing.
Grab a Drink at a Local Brewery
If seeing a show at Hendricks Live! is part of a date night or group gathering, and you want to go for drinks before or after, consider Brew Link Brewing or Nigh Brewpub.
Brew Link is located at Oak Tree Golf Course and is known for their 24 unique beers. Sister brewery, Nigh Brewpub, offers a rotating assortment including some of Brew Link's selections on tap.
Get Dessert
I am always looking for an excuse to have ice cream or actually any dessert for that matter, so I think adding it to your Hendricks Live! experience is reason enough to indulge. My personal favorite is Frigid Frog and More, because I love all of their ice cream flavors and its proximity to the venue.
In downtown Plainfield other sweet treat options include Momma Shell's Cookies, and Roots Market + Eatery. Other options a little further away but still in Plainfield include, Schakolad Chocolate Factory, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt and Sweet Minis Cake Bar.
